Buick Riviera specs: 1977-1978

No longer an E-body, The 1977-1978 Buick Riviera was now on the metric B-body platform. This freshened B-body platform itself was an evolution of the colonnade A-body platform, so this this Riv has alot more in common with the’73-’77 colonnades than you might have thought.

The heavy ’74-’76 style could have carried on, but due to the demise of Buick’s 455, it was necessary to lighten up the Riviera for 1977. This generation lasted only through the 1978 model year. The Riv went front wheel drive for 1979.
